Intro To Shamanism Class

In this introductory class you will learn about the principles and philosophy of shamanism, learn the journeying process to access spiritual information, discover your power animal(s) and learn how to work with them, learn the tools of the shaman, and explore the lower and upper worlds.  This class is a pre-requisite for attending the monthly drumming circle and the two year trainings in core and celtic shamanism.

Two Year Core Shamanic Apprenticeship Training

Core Shamanism incorporates ancient techniques to achieve and maintain health and well-being for the self and the community, thus it is not culture specific.It is a journey to the spiritual dimension of nature to seek knowledge. Each student will develop their own unique path, rather than copying any specific culture. The two year program is divided into two parts. The first year focuses on healing the self and the second year focuses on healing others.

In the first year the students develop their own shamanic practice for self healing by working with the medicine wheel and developing a deeper appreciation for living in accordance with natural law.

The second year requires completion of the first year. Students learn shamanic techniques for healing others; including soul retrieval, extraction, and psychopomp work. Ethical considerations and how to develop a shamanic practice are also discussed.his training is experiential and open to all who have a basic knowledge of journeying and power animals. The Introduction to Shamanism class is required for those with no prior Shamanic experience. Students may apply only for the first year if so desired.

Cost for the two years is $1200. The last 3 classes will be two day classes where we will practice healing on community members and past shamanic students. Deposit is $300.

Two year training in Celtic Shamanism

Celtic Shamanism is based upon the work of Tom Cowan and is derived from the old world Celtic view of life. This is not Wiccan training, nor does it study the history of the Celts, rather it looks at how they viewed their world, their belief system and their daily lives. We will move around the Celtic Wheel focusing on the Sacred Days of Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasah and Samhain and the healing rituals based on these days. Brigid, Lugh, the Fomorians, and the Faeries will be worked with.

In the second year we will work with the Sidhe to help us heal ourselves and our land. Faery Doctoring will be learned and how to help balance our energies with the world of Faeries. And, yes, we will learn our Soul Song!

Students should be familiar with journeying and proficient with working with their power animals. The Intro to Shamanism class is required if the student has no prior shamanic experience.

Cost is $1000 for the two year program. Registration requires a nonrefundable $225 (first and last) deposit. Payment plans are available, sorry no bartering for this class. Class will meet on a Saturday from 10-5 every three months. Dates are determined by the class participants. And you will have experiential homework between classes.

Maskmaking Workshop

Discovering your authentic self is about finding your personal power, your heart power, so that you can walk in balance upon the earth. Creating a mask of your face can be a very empowering process...one that allows and encourages you to look deep within, at the REAL you. To strip away the outer, well mask, and reveal the real person within. Most of us have spent our entire lives carefully constructing the mask we present to the world. In this workshop you spend time revealing the hidden you.

Drum Making Workshop

The beat of the drum is the heartbeat of Mother Earth, and connects us to our own heart. Making a drum is really a transformational journey into our hearts. We'll do some work with the spirit of our drums and journey to find symbols and how it is to be used in our life. We will also discover the spirit animal of our drum. You will be making a 12" or 15" elk or deer-hide frame drum and accompanying beater. The ones pictured below were made in the most recent drum making class.

All materials will be provided and are included in the price of the workshop. If you have some special beads or feathers which you'd like to decorate your drum you may also bring them. Early registration is required for this class so that supplies can be purchased.

Rattle Making Workshop

SHAKE IT UP! Come, have some fun and make your own dried gourd rattle. We'll experience a guided meditation to discover symbols and colors for your rattle. After creating the rattle, we'll celebrate its birth with a special ceremony. All supplies will be provided.

Discovering Your Spiritual Path

In this workshop you will discover where you are on your spiritual path and what your gifts are that you have to offer to the world. Through the use of Angeles Arrien's Preferential Shapes Test you will identify where you are on your spiritual path, identify blocks, and learn what gifts you have developed in this lifetime.

We will further define your expression of these gifts in working with your birth-date on the medicine wheel. We'll use guided meditation and creativity to merge this information so you have a clear path of where you are and what you are to do in the world.

Expressions of Grief: Healing our Hearts, Calling in the Ancestors

In this class we will explore John Schneider's model of transformative grief and apply it to the Spirit Wheel of the four directions through experiential activities including drumming, dancing, song, journeying, and journaling.

We will incorporate into our class a Wailing Ceremony focusing on healing our hearts and the heart of the world through the voices of the Ancestors.

Intro to the Chakras

In this class we will learn about the chakra system in the body. We will explore each of the 7 main chakras and learn about their corresponding colors, organs, emotional patterns, body location and ways to balance them. Knowledge of the chakra system is essential in all healing systems.

There are seven power centers in your body, called chakras. The state of each chakra reflects the health of a particular area of your body and your psychological, emotional and spiritual well-being.

Every thought and experience you've ever had in your life gets filtered through these chakra databases. Each event is recorded into your cells. When chakra energy is blocked or misdirected, emotional and physical illness can arise.

Explore your seven power centers and see how they reflect what's happening in your body, in your life:

Ethics for the Energyworker

This workshop addresses the need for a basic class in ethics for all bodyworkers, light workers and healers. It addresses the issue of working with people in altered states of consciousness. Based upon the book "Ethics of Caring", by Kylea Taylor, and The Essential Guide for Healers by Caroline Myss this class looks at our own vulnerabilities to unethical behavior. We will also discuss how to address the issue of an unethical peer and our responsibility. Highly recommended for all persons in the healing professions.
